Contacting the WPFG
Before attempting to communicate electronically with us, you might find some of your questions are answered below:
| Q: I have read the website and I am still confused! What exactly is the WPFG? | A: We are a living history group who portray the armed forces of the "Soviet Bloc" during the Cold War. We do this by dressing up in original uniforms and equipment at various shows around the country. |
| Q: Can I join the WPFG? | A: Maybe! Our main requirement is that you have an interest in and at least some knowledge of the uniforms and equipment of at least one of the Directions of the WPFG A sense of humour is also definitely needed! |
| Q: Where are you based? | A: We are a UK based living history group and like most other living history groups we don't have a "base" or a "club house". Our members are located all over the UK and we meet at the various events the group attends plus some other social outings we arrange from time to time. Your own location is not important if you wish to join us, but be aware you will be travelling to pursue this hobby! |
| Q: Why on earth do you portray a "bunch of Commies"? Why not do British/American/other NATO troops? | A: For nearly 50 years the West feared war with the Warsaw Pact, however few people ever actually saw what the "enemy" looked like because war never came. Plus the Soviet Bloc was extremely secretive. We show what was never seen during the Cold War. |
| Q: Those guns all look scarily real! Is that legal?? | A: The weapons look real because mainly they are, however all are legally held and none are actually capable of firing due to deactivation. Other items are 100% accurate non-firing replicas. |
| Q: Where can I buy *insert name of piece of kit* because its really cool! | A: Have a look at our links page for some pointers. Remember that everything you see us with is old surplus kit, not items you can buy off a shelf - you have to hunt for it! Please don't email us to help you hunt! |
| Q: Where can I see the WPFG's living history displays? | A: The dates for the scheduled events are on the Fronts page |
| Q: Can I get the WPFG to come to my military show, school, fete or childrens party and do a living history display or presentation? | A: Maybe, ask us! |
| Q: I have this really good idea for recreating a big battle between NATO and the Warsaw Pact, can you help? | A: We depict the subject as it was historically. NATO never actually attacked the Warsaw Pact so we do not do "battles" |
| Q: I am a Marxist revolutionary and would like the WPFG to help me overthrow my government | A: Sorry but we are a Living History Group and not actually able to help you with such matters. |
| Q: Just what on earth does that crazy rhetoric on your website actually mean? | A: Absolutely nothing! |
